Teen Orthodontics
Orthodontic Care Designed for Teens
Confidence starts with a smile. We help teens achieve theirs with treatment options that fit their life, their schedule, and their personality.

Why the Teen Years Are Ideal for Treatment
Adolescence is the most common—and often the most efficient—time for orthodontic treatment. Here's why:
- All or most permanent teeth have come in, giving us a complete picture
- The jaw is still growing, which we can use to our advantage
- Teens respond well to treatment, often achieving results faster than adults
- Correcting alignment now prevents more complex issues later in life
Whether your teen has crowding, spacing, an overbite, underbite, or crossbite, this is the window where treatment can be most effective and least disruptive.
Treatment Options for Teens
Every teen is different, and so is every treatment plan. Dr. Bonebreak will recommend the option that best fits your teen's needs, lifestyle, and goals.
Metal Braces
The most reliable and versatile option. Today’s metal braces are smaller and more comfortable than ever—and teens can personalize them with colored bands at every visit.
Clear Ceramic Braces
Tooth-colored brackets that blend in for a more discreet look, with the same effectiveness as traditional braces. A popular choice for image-conscious teens.
Invisalign Teen
Nearly invisible removable aligners designed specifically for teen lifestyles. Built-in compliance indicators help parents and Dr. Bonebreak track wear time.
During your consultation, we'll discuss the pros and cons of each option so you and your teen can make a confident, informed decision together.
Life with Braces as a Teen
One of the biggest concerns parents and teens have is how treatment will fit into everyday life. The short answer: better than you think.
Sports & Activities
Braces and sports go together just fine with a proper mouthguard. Invisalign aligners can be removed during games and practices for total flexibility.
School-Friendly Scheduling
Our Monday–Thursday hours (7:45 AM – 5:30 PM) are designed to minimize missed school. Early morning and after-school appointments are available.
Eating with Braces
With braces, a few foods are off-limits (hard candy, popcorn, sticky snacks). With Invisalign, there are zero food restrictions—just remove the aligners and eat normally.
Treatment Timeline
Most teen treatments take 12 to 24 months, depending on complexity. We’ll give you a clear estimate before starting so there are no surprises.
More Than Straight Teeth
The teen years are formative. How your teen feels about their smile affects their confidence in school, in social settings, and in how they see themselves.
Orthodontic treatment isn't just about alignment—it's about giving your teen the confidence to smile freely, speak up, and feel good about who they are. That's the real result we're after.

Common Questions from Parents & Teens
How long will my teen need braces?
Most teens are in treatment for 12 to 24 months. The exact timeline depends on the complexity of their case—we’ll provide a personalized estimate at the consultation.
Can my teen still play sports or instruments?
Absolutely. We provide custom mouthguards for athletes with braces, and most instruments are compatible with treatment. Invisalign can be removed for both.
Braces vs. Invisalign—which is better for my teen?
Both are excellent options. Braces work well for complex cases and don’t require compliance discipline. Invisalign is great for teens who want a discreet option and are responsible about wearing their aligners. Dr. Bonebreak will recommend the best fit.
What if my teen doesn’t wear their Invisalign?
Invisalign Teen includes compliance indicators that show whether aligners are being worn enough. If compliance is a concern, traditional braces may be a better choice—and that’s perfectly okay.
How much does teen orthodontic treatment cost?
Every case is different. We accept all PPO insurance, offer no-interest in-house payment plans, and accept CareCredit. We’ll walk you through all options at your consultation so cost is never a barrier.
